    Howard Stern

Howard Stern made his debut on Sirius Satellite Radio today. I was very surprised on what I was listening to. It's actually a great show, and not as bad as the FCC makes it out be. Really enjoyed all that I listened to this morning. Anybody has Sirius, check out Howard 100-101.

Also for everybody who likes Rock..Check out Revolution 97, the new christian rock channel. You'd be surprised on what bands you like, that you'll find playing on there.

    Re: Howard Stern

I think Stern has actually matured alot in the past few years with his show. Hey steer how much does Sirius cost a month and how much was the initial fee? Can you still listen to all profesional sports or is that just with XM.

    Re: Howard Stern

MG--Sirius actually has more overall sports than XM, with NFL, NBA, NHL, Soccer, and a lot of different college sports teams (mainly Pac 10, Big Ten, SEC, & Big East). Main difference is that XM carries MLB and ACC college sports, while Sirius doesn't carry any ACC team unless they play a team in one of the conferences they do cover or if they play them in a bowl (ala Miami & LSU).

Also, in terms of personalities, I think Sirius has the funnier comedy stuff, with Stern coming in and having 2 channels, and Sirius's Raw Dog 104 station is HILARIOUS...especially since Jim Breuer has his own show on there 4-6 every day with replays at 9-11. I personally think all the sports, plus the comedy that's on w/Stern & Raw Dog, add to that plenty of musical genre's to choose from on diff. stations--Sirius is great. I've listened to XM several times...and yeah there are some things they do better, but Sirius is worth it. I think it's 12 or 13 bucks a month, no "initiation/hookup" fee...just pay the subscription, buy the display unit, and start listening.

In terms of Sirius's different players, the best ones out are the Starmate Replay ST2, the Sportster Replay (I have this one--LOVE IT), and the S50. Those run 129.99, 169.99, and 329.99 respectively--but have great features to all of them. All 3 have recording capability...DVR-esque, and it's very handy. BUT--if that's too much, you can get a player for as little as 49.99, and even cheaper given sales from Crutchfield and even Radio Shack. Some people like XM, but I think Sirius is going to take off and surpass it all given a couple of years--IMO, you should get in now.

    Re: Howard Stern

take all of their money? he isn't going to be taking all of their money. Sirius went in such high demand yesterday to start up new subscriptions it was 9 hours behind in production. I think there is now around 3.3-3.5 millions subscribers for Sirius.

Sirius is 12.95 a month. I pay based on a year subscription. But I think I'm about ready to pay for a lifetime membership. It's cheaper that way. $600 for lifetime, or life time of the radio. I'm not sure though.

    Re: Howard Stern

How in the blue hell is Howard going to take all of their money? He got shares of stock plus his salary to compensate him for coming to Sirius. He alone will bring in enough new subscribers to Sirius to cover that cost, plus make them money. AND--he's got enough pull with other stars to get them to come to Sirius and make their own shows. Plus, Sirius's stock price in the past year has DOUBLED, while XM's has decreased. XM went from 5 mil. subscribers last year to 6 this year, while Sirius's tripled from 1.1 mil. to 3.3 mil...I really don't see your point given those #'s. If by "taking all their money" you think he's going to get them in trouble with the FCC...he can't. Satellite radio is unregulated because it is a subscription service. The FCC basically has the stance of if you pay for it, you know what you're getting, so you don't have to listen to it if you don't like it.

Also, the only way either will go defunct is if they agree to a merger of some type.

Stern is nothing more than a trash mouth piece of crap. He is a great example of how America has been going down the tube since the 60's.
